Business Unit description

The Customer Operations business unit at UCAS was formed to deliver and enhance the support and product & services provided to students, advisers, providers and other stakeholders involved in the higher education admissions process. This department focuses on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of customer interactions, ensuring that applicants and the providers they consider, and apply to, receive timely and accurate information, assistance, and guidance throughout the application cycle. It’s also the unit where we anticipate, respond to and define customer change to ensure UCAS can meet the needs of its customers and stakeholders going forward. Working in cross-company multi-disciplinary teams comprising; Customer Service and Relationships, Product Management, International, Policy, Admissions Reform and Fair Access.

UCAS, in its role as the national admissions service, helps connect the world to UK higher education as the largest single gateway to undergraduate (UG) degree entry. This customer-facing role is responsible for building sustainable, trusted relationships with key customers and stakeholders involved in global student mobility. The postholder will ensure that UCAS has a deep understanding of the current key challenges and opportunities facing its designated customer groups, and that they are engaged in, informed about, and know how to access relevant UCAS support, products and services to help enhance the experience of international students through their discovery, application and decision stages of their journey to UK higher education. Duties will include building UCAS’ profile in the sector; leading both short and long term projects; undertaking speaking and presenting opportunities; and generating new business and engagement opportunities.

Skills, qualifications, and experience

  • Academic degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience of working directly within the international higher education sector and community
  • Proven ability of building positive, mutually beneficial relationships or partnerships, with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at a senior/decision maker level
  • Excellent customer service and advocacy skills, experience of championing a customer/stakeholder group internally and externally
  • Highly organised, with demonstrated use of initiative to ensure that the most efficient and effective systems are in place to support achieving the international strategy
  • Resilient, able to work independently and effectively prioritise, problem resolution and ability to manage unplanned situations effectively.
  • Knowledge of and adaptability to a diverse range of cultures
  • Willingness to undertake travel within the UK and occasionally overseas

Package

Salary - up to £30,000.
