Business Unit description

The business unit is set up to deliver against the objectives of UCAS charity and operate UCAS Media (UCAS’s commercial subsidiary) to help fund UCAS’s charitable operations. For the charity, our objective is to provide everyone with the information, advice and guidance they need to make informed decisions on their next steps. We deliver on this via our media ecosystem which consists of information, advice and guidance on ucas.com, our social media feeds across various channels, email, live events and webinars.
For UCAS Media, our business objective is to generate revenue through paid collaborations with higher education providers who wish to improve their position in the market, and commercial brands who want to reach students. All brands wishing to use our media ecosystem and insight services must align with our framework. All profits generated are gift aided to UCAS the charity and in turn fund the charitable objectives, such as our recent announcement that students in receipt of free school meals will no longer need to pay the UCAS application fee.

About the role
This position is a key role in the design team, using creative awareness and ability to develop highly innovative and creative solutions for strategically driven projects, clearly communicating concepts at every stage. As part of a small team, this role is integral to the day-to-day operation of the business, with the potential to help shape the studio. The Graphic and Digital Designer will work on projects spanning a wide range of disciplines, being exposed to design challenges across all channels.
Key accountabilities:
· Proactively collaborating with marketing colleagues to aid the design, ideation and development of various design projects and campaigns across all disciplines
· Developing multiple applicable design solutions which meet the strategic and design criteria as established by project stakeholders
· Presenting concept work internally
· Establishing direction for design, seeing projects from concept through to completion
· Working closely with marketing managers to ensure that all information necessary for the successful production of the design/campaign is clearly understood
· Staying current on market trends and research as it relates to design, and communicates it to other team members
· Expand on already strong technical knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud software – Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects
· Liaising with external studios, where necessary
Skills, qualifications, and experience
Essential:
· Degree or qualifications in relevant specialism
· Detail oriented with exceptional organisational skills
· The innate ability to multi-task and prioritise
· Good understanding of working to schedules, deadlines, and budgets
· An excellent creative portfolio with a variety of projects from multiple sectors
· Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
· Ability to work within existing guidelines, and know how to stretch them
· Ability to create production ready files for print and digital delivery
· Excellent typography, layout and art direction skills
· Excellent concepting and visualisation skills
· Excellent hands-on experience with Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
· Project management within the studio, liaising with stakeholders to hit established deadlines
· Administration of the Design Team folders/files
· Initiation of own creative and skill development
· Display an eye for detail and accuracy, excellent problem-solving skills, and high levels of initiative
Desirable:
· Design, concepts, layout, and build of emails and email templates using HTML/CSS
· Use Monday.com to manage project workflows
· Create and amend animations / videos in Adobe After Effects / Premiere

Salary - up to £30,000
